When three harps perform together on the large Stage A of Vienna Synchron Stage, they create an exceptionally rich and shimmering ensemble sound. Glissandos, chords, and arpeggios blend naturally within the spacious acoustics of the hall, forming a wide tapestry of color, movement, and resonance.

BBO Harps brings this distinctive orchestral color to the Big Bang Orchestra series. It is ideal for grand orchestral swells, magical transitions, fantasy scores, and any moment that calls for additional width, shimmer, and a sense of wonder.

Three Harps, One Voice

When a single harp is not enough, three harps performing together provide significantly more richness, resonance, and presence. This type of ensemble has a long orchestral tradition and has been used by major classical composers as well as throughout modern film scoring.

The combined performance creates a sound that feels broad, alive, and organic while maintaining enough presence to stand confidently within larger orchestral arrangements.

Live on Stage A

BBO Harps is an entirely new collection created specifically for the Big Bang Orchestra series. It was performed by Tina Žerdin, Veronika Villányi, and Magdalena Fürntratt, with all three harpists playing together on Stage A of Vienna Synchron Stage.

Because the players could naturally adapt their phrasing, timing, and touch to one another during the performances, the result is an organic ensemble blend that would be difficult to achieve by simply layering individually recorded harps.

Each harp was captured with two different close microphones, complemented by Mid, Decca Tree, Surround, and High Surround positions. This provides flexible control over the sound, from intimate detail to expansive cinematic space.

Glissandos, Chords & Effects

With three harps playing together, the focus is not on manually performing individual glissandos but on capturing authentic ensemble performances. Simply choose a scale or mode and a key, play a note, and let all three harps unfold as one unified sound.

The collection includes ascending and descending glissandos in different tempos and lengths, along with chords in a variety of keys and scales. Delicate bisbigliandos, looped performances, and random playing provide additional material for evolving and ethereal textures.

Gong and thunder effects reveal a darker and more powerful side of the instruments, expanding BBO Harps with dramatic and experimental colors.
