Uncommon Vintage BBD Echo Reborn
Mantis is a plugin that emulates the rare BBD bucket brigade device echo unit from the early 70s, faithfully recreating its warm, dark and unmistakably analog sound. Inspired by the Carlsbro Mantis, it captures the character of early commercial BBD delay hardware with precision and musicality.
Like the original unit, Mantis features an echo section with four taps and four swell selectors, plus the unique rotafaze modulation. It can recreate tape style wow and flutter or transform the signal into a distinctive chorus delay. With eight TDA1022 chips, it delivers precise yet organic analog slap back echo. Vintage mode recreates authentic BBD behavior with variable base delay and tonal shifts, while Modern mode extends delay time up to 1 second and adds full DAW sync for expanded creative control.
