Adding a mute fundamentally changes the character of the violin. Rather than simply reducing its brilliance, it reveals a warmer, silkier timbre with a more intimate and lyrical quality. As the second voice of the muted Synchron Solo Strings ensemble, Synchron Solo Violin 2 (sordino) contributes its own distinctive color and musical identity, performed by Damir Oraščanin, concertmaster of the Vienna Synchron Orchestra, and captured in the exceptional acoustics of Stage A at Vienna Synchron Stage.
A Distinctive Musical Personality
Like its non-muted counterpart, Synchron Solo Violin 2 (sordino) is performed by a different musician on a different instrument than Solo Violin 1. This deliberate choice creates a natural tonal contrast, allowing both violins to interact with remarkable realism when played together. The muted quartet gains additional depth and authenticity through the subtle differences in tone, phrasing and performance.
Damir Oraščanin has been concertmaster of the Vienna Synchron Orchestra since 2020. Born in Belgrade, he studied both there and at Salzburg's Mozarteum University, performing internationally as a soloist and chamber musician while also appearing with renowned ensembles such as the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Vienna Volksoper. His refined performance with the mute attached preserves the instrument's individual character while unveiling a gentler, more nuanced tonal palette.

A Complete Muted Palette
Synchron Solo Violin 2 (sordino) includes virtually the same extensive articulation set as the original Synchron Solo Violin 2, with every articulation recorded exclusively with the mute in place. The library offers a comprehensive range of short articulations including spiccato, staccato, détaché, ricochet and saltando, alongside sustained notes with multiple release variations and expressive slides.
The legato collection comprises normal, agile, slurred, portamento and zigane performances, complemented by sforzatos, tremolos, trills, harmonics and pizzicatos. Thanks to the Synchron Player's Crossfade Editor, articulations can be blended seamlessly, enabling exceptionally natural transitions while retaining the softer, intimate character of the muted instrument.
Microphone Setup – Standard & Full Library
Both the Standard Library and Full Library include the identical articulation content. The Full Library expands the sonic flexibility by providing additional microphone positions for greater control during mixing.
