8-bit Echo Reverb Effect
miniVerb is an 8-bit chiptune and lofi reverb effect inspired by the unmistakable sound of 80s game consoles and retro computers. Back then, limited DSP power forced composers to get creative. Instead of true reverb, they often sacrificed one sound channel to play a delayed copy of the original signal, using slapback echo to fake a sense of space.
miniVerb recreates this classic digital echo reverb character, known from iconic systems like the NES and SNES. From short mono delays that mimic early console tricks to longer echo tails inspired by 90s hardware, the Echo Section lets you dial in authentic retro depth. Two filters, vibrato, and a crusher expand the sound beyond pure emulation, giving you flexible tools for shaping everything from strict chiptune textures to more modern lo fi effects.
