Eight kits recorded by multi-award-winning engineer/producer/mixer Kevin Killen at the iconic Real World Studios.

Recorded by Grammy-winning engineer and producer Kevin Killen at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, the REAL TO REEL SDX for Superior Drummer 3 captures eight complete drum kits with unmistakable character and depth.

Three recording spaces were used to shape the sound. The vast Big Room delivers huge, powerful drums. The soaring Wood Room adds natural diffusion and controlled reverb. The compact Wood Booth contrasts with tight, dry and articulate tones. Together, they offer an expansive sonic palette for any style of music.

All recordings were routed through a classic Studer A820 analog tape machine, blending modern detail with vintage warmth and saturation.

Alongside the sounds, you’ll find a tailored collection of MIDI grooves and fills plus mix ready presets crafted by Kevin Killen. Use them as they are or as starting points for your own custom mixes.

• All snares, toms and hi-hats were sampled with many new and additional articulations, including right- and left-hand hits

• Includes 8 complete drum kits and a wide selection of additional snares, bass drums and cymbals sampled with sticks

• 13 bass drums, 14 snare drums, 3 hi-hats, 15 cymbals, 25 toms • 3 drum kits with additional 4 side snares, octobans, rototoms, concert toms

• Additional percussion (cowbell, tambourines, agogo bells, vibra-slap, triangle and experimentally processed and treated drum/percussion kits)

• Includes 44 mix ready presets personally created by Kevin Killen

• Recorded with many additional optional room microphones for perfect playback in stereo and surround

• Additional stereo ambience captured from the Real World Studios staircase

• Includes a very large collection of individually performed genre-specific MIDI drum grooves/performances (440 files), inspired by some of Kevin Killen’s legendary productions, along with additional MIDI grooves for percussion – conceived and performed by sampling drummer Norman Garschke
