Vier Solisten, die ihr ganzes Herzblut und ihre vielfältige Erfahrung aus ihrer langjährigen internationalen Konzerttätigkeit in das Vienna Instrument einbringen. Einfühlsam und klar, exakt und homogen, technisch perfekt und von überzeugender Musikalität. Hier sind vier Künstler am Werk, die nicht nur ihr Instrument beherrschen, sondern in jahrelanger Tätigkeit für die Vienna Symphonic Library genau wissen, worauf es ankommt. Ihre Performances in der Silent Stage bleiben in diesem Vienna Instrument lebendig.

Neben dem gesamten Sample-Schatz aus der Solo Strings-Edition der Horizon Series enthält dieses Vienna Instrument viele neue Spielweisen: „Zigane“, die langsam „geschmierten“ Portamenti, kommen als Intervall-Performances mit den Algorithmen der neuen Audio Engine besonders gut zur Geltung. Neu sind auch die schnellen Intervall-Performances in legato, marcato und spiccato-Spielweisen. „Harsh“ sind Spieltechniken mit besonders grobem, fast brutalem Anstrich (Attack), die auch als Intervall-Performances und Repetitionen zur Verfügung stehen. Weiters gibt es u. a. spezielle Performance Triller, Repetitionen in Spiccato- und Richochet-Spielweisen, Sustains mit nachlassendem Vibrato, ponticello, sul tasto, und eine Vielzahl an natürlichen und künstlichen Flageoletts.

• Dynamics: various crescendos & diminuendos, with and without vibrato, fp, sfz, sffz, pfp

• Trills: half tone, whole tone, crescendo & diminuendo, constant speed and accelerando

So, what’s the final verdict?
VSL Solo Strings set out to provide a comprehensive library of solo string articulations with a focus on playability, ease of integration into existing templates (very dry samples, so fits anywhere with a little help from the reverb) and speed and stability. It succeeds in all those areas, and then some. If you need a solo strings library that is light enough on resources to run on a portable machine without hiccups, yet at the same time will offer you almost anything you can possibly want in terms of articulations for your solo string work, look no further!
