For some reason there are not many Punk-Samplers out there. Maybe the industry thinks that the creativity of the musicians who made music with three chords stopped as their last guitar-string was torn so they don´t watch out for sampling discs nowadays. Or the request for Punk music isn´t that commercial today - if it was at all.
Whatsoever: Punk is rare and so I´m happy to write about this product - also because I played in a Punk-Band during the 80s myself (greetings to Sid, Cozy, Atze, Granini and Boris from the "Viehdieben").

Musically this sample library goes into the direction of The Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones or The Hives - so more Punk as New Wave. (...) Also because synthesized sounds are missing totally. Here are only real played guitars, bass and drums sounds.

Punk-Sampler gibt’s merkwürdigerweise nicht allzu viele; vielleicht geht man ja in der Industrie davon aus, dass Leute, die früher mal Musik mit drei Akkorden gemacht haben, ihre Kreativphase mit dem Riss der letzten Saite wieder beendet haben und heute keine Sampling-Scheiben kaufen. Oder dass das Interesse an Punk heute nicht allzu groß ist. Oder dass Punk noch nie wirklich kommerziell gewesen ist. Wie auch immer: Punk ist selten und wird deshalb von mir umso freudiger rezensiert – auch, weil ich in den 80ern selber in einer Punkband gespielt habe (Grüße an Sid, Cozy, Atze, Granini und Boris von den Viehdieben). Musikalisch geht’s hier in Richtung The Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones oder The Hives – also mehr Punk, eher weniger New Wave, auch wenn uns das Soundnamen wie New Order andeuten wollen. Schon deshalb, weil synthetische Klänge so gut wie völlig fehlen; hier gibt’s nur von Hand eingespielte Gitarren, Bässe und Drums. Das Material ist in drei Abteilungen sortiert: Nummer eins enthält 23 Demosongs, einmal volles Programm, einmal Drums, einmal alle Saiteninstrumente – aber immer den kompletten Song. In der Abteilung zwei finden sich die Baukästen. Hier sind die 23 Songs in ihre einzelnen Bestandteile zerlegt: verschiedene Drumtracks, Bassriffs, Akkordgitarren und Licks, die man sich dann nach Bedarf zusammensetzen kann. In der letzten Abteilung schließlich gibt’s dazugehörige Drumbreaks sowie die Abmischungen und Einzelspuren noch einmal trocken, also ohne Effekte. Handwerklich und stilistisch ist das alles erste Sahne und nah an den Vorbildern. Etwas störend ist, dass jeder Song eigentlich nur aus einer viertaktigen Grundidee besteht, den man entweder als Strophe oder Refrain nehmen kann – einer der beiden Teile sowie Bridges jedweder Art fehlen also. Punk war zwar vergleichsweise einfach gestrickt, aber etwas mehr hätte es da schon sein dürfen. So hat man immer dieses „Wann-geht’s-denn-endlich-los-Gefühl“.

Fazit:
Handwerklich, technisch und stilistisch einwandfreies Punkrevival mit 23 Baukästen, bei denen wir nur einen B-Teil vermissen. Damit vertreibt sich Jonny Rotten die Zeit im Bastelkeller.
