Creator of this library is Yvat, distinguished as a Rumanian IDM-artist. All „Art of Sounds“ material was produced exclusively for Ueberschall using his unique, inventive means to create a new world of soundscape sculptures. Bionically infused rhythms coupled with soft and harmonic ambiences deliver a homogenous sound setting of seemingly simple yet impressive environments. Only the semantic and syntax of each of the 679 sounds are used to propel elemental formations into evolved structures.

„Art Of Sounds“ provides 69 construction kits between 60 and 136 BPM, seperated into:

The 1.06 GB variety of content includes warm pads which conflict within themselves, defused and torn. Combined with rhythms which seem to diminish into an airy mist, while at the same moment the melody carries them on.

This “Art of Sounds” is explored by Yvat. He embraced a double track career of sound designer & producer and of experimental music artist. Over the past 10 years, more than 25 albums have been released by well known labels of experimental electronica, like Cactus Island, SubliminalTapeClub, Envizagae, Experimental Seafood or Boltfish, to name a few. His geometrical constructions combine fortunately unpolished textures and fine crafted sounds to give you a fresh and yet rough approach on intelligent music.

Drei Dinge machen mich neugierig bei dieser Produktion: Tracktitel wie „How to shrink Heads“, das Versprechen des Herstellers, die Art of Sounds seien „perfekt gemacht für die experimentelle Musikproduktion“ und vor allem der Hinweis, dass der rumänische Künstler Yvat hinter all dem steckt (unbedingt mal anschauen: www.yvat.com, oder bei YouTube „Yvat“ als Suchbegriff eingeben). Und wie schön, dass die Scheibe tatsächlich auch hält, was sie verspricht. Unterteilt in Ambiences, Construction Kits und Drumkits gibt es schwer Experimentelles auf die Ohren, wunderschöne Klangcollagen, die die aggressive Spielwut früher Freejazzer, der erhabenen Schlichtheit einer Barbara Morgenstern und der Grenzenlosigkeit der Einstürzenden Neubauten in sich vereint. Vieles klingt, als würde ein Track rückwärts laufen, während eine Katze auf dem Sampler ihrem Schatten nachjagt und das Handy munter Störgeräusche produziert. Ohne jetzt aber zu nerven oder in einer willkürlichen Kakaphonie zu enden – nein, die ordnende Hand eines Künsters, ruhige Flächen und Melodiefetzen sowie der oft darunter liegende Rhythmus (und sei er auch noch so schräg), sind immer deutlich herauszuhören. In den Ambiences (unterteilt in Artificial, Illustrations 1+2 und Unperfect Loops) gibt es diese elektronisch-orchestralen Klanggewitter frontal auf die Ohren, die können mit den Drumkits (zwischen 72 und 90 bpm) unterlegt werden.

Fazit: Leider lässt es unser Layout nicht zu, einfach mal sechs von fünf Punkten zu vergeben, sonst würde ich das hier glatt versuchen. Gratulation an Ueberschall für den Mut, auch abseits der gängigen Hörgewohnheiten etwas anzubieten. Denn mit Mainstream hat das alles nichts zu tun, und man muss schon offen sein für neue Hörerfahrungen, um Gefallen an den „Art of Sounds“ zu finden. Denn das sind sie wirklich: Kunst.
