With almost 7.000 samples, 14 articulations, up to 8 dynamic-layers and a full range of 4 octaves, CH-Harmonica is definitely the most detailedly sampled Chromatic Harmonica on the planet. The user interface holds tons of features on several pages to shape the sound the way you want it. However, if you do not feel like editing, just play and explore the 26 pre-programmed Key-Switch presets ranging from A-1 to A#1 on the lower keys of your MIDI-keyboard.

To achieve the feeling of a live performance, the user interface offers four "Dynamic Modes", „Key-Vibrato“, „Hot-Keys“ and a revolutionary new concept of articulation presets .

One of the most unique features in CH-Harmonica are the Phase-Aligned samples. After six months of research, Chris Hein found a solution to phase-synchronize the samples. This enables an absolutely perfect blending between six dynamic layers. During the development of CH-Harmonica, most attention was spent on how to work with dynamic expression.

The Musician

We were very happy when Berthold Matschat gave us permission to sample his rare harmonica. There are very few chromatic harmonica players worldwide, and he is the leading player in Germany. Berthold Matschat is also an accomplished jazz pianist and composer. Since he extensively works with sampled instruments in his own studio, he had a detailed concept of what needed to be played on and sampled of the harmonica. His tone is particularly soulful and emotional. We recorded an old rare Hohner Harmonica, that dates back to those times, when Hohner could impress with the words “Made in Germany”.

Die Chris Hein Chromatic Harmonica schließt in puncto Qualität und Austattung lückenlos an die Vorgängerprodukte an und verdient rundum nur Bestnoten. Die Audioqualität und die Präsenz dieser über vier Oktaven spielbaren, chromatischen Mundharmonica ist allen mir bekannten Mitbewerbern deutlich überlegen. Die Vielfalt an Spielweisen, die ausgefeilten Legato- und Vibrato-Optionen, die Gestaltungsoptionen der charakteristischen Einschwingphase durch Blow- und Attack-Spielweisen setzen neue Maßstäbe.

Trotz umfassenden Editiermöglichkeiten bleibt die Bedienung übersichtlich und leicht erlernbar. Wenn überhaupt nötig, hilft hier das deutschsprachige PDF-Handbuch. Obwohl es eine Reihe von voreingestellten Konfigurationen gibt, die über Key-Switches anwählbar sind, lohnt sich der Einstieg ins Editieren – hier geht es bis hin zum Klangdesign und experimentellen Verfremdungen. Diese Mundharmonica kann sowohl lieblich-bluesig gespielt werden als auch zu einem druckvollen, Blechbläsern ähnlichen Ensemble mutieren. Ein Instrument der Sonderklasse zu einem ausgesprochen günstigen Preis.

....Chris nous a concocté un instrument qui procure une joie à jouer. Si vous êtes en mode Legato,et si vous jouez une autre note vous créez une transition en douceur qui semble très crédible. Le mode polyphonique transforme vous permet de jouer des accords. Il y a également un mode Glide, qui crée le glissement de la note, définissable par votre choix de la clé, l'échelle, la vitesse et le nombre d'étapes. Vous pouvez ouvrir le son et le maintenir par votre pédale de sustain. Tout simplement génial !
Cependant, ce qui distingue cette bibliothèque des autres, c'est que toutes les nuances qui font une grande
performance sont disponibles. Vous pouvez ajouter " bruit " les sons de souffle, l'air, et la poussière, avec le paramètre de bruit. Sont également remarquables les ''Sustain expressif" patches, longs, moyens et courts.
C'est l'un des rares exemples de bibliothèque qui n'a vraiment pas de concurrence et que beaucoup d'entre nous ont voulu pendant longtemps. Si vous ne jouez pas de l'harmonica chromatique et que vous ne vivez pas à Los Angeles, ou que vous ne pouvez pas vous offrir les prestations de ''Tommy Morgan'', alors cette bibliothèque est pour vous....

You can’t miss with Chris Hein’s libraries; the only question is: Do you need a chromatic harmonica? If you do, then this is the real solution. I’ve tried to play a real one, after all a good friend of mine is one of the most cherished harmonica players in Slovenia, but I would rather stick with this one.
