Ample China Konghou – Elegant Harp-Like Tones with Chinese Character

Ample China Konghou brings the clear, gentle and expressive sound of a traditional Chinese plucked string instrument into your studio. The Konghou has a long history and can be found in historical depictions such as the Dunhuang murals.

For this library, a Hongyun Peacock 76-string Konghou in C was recorded and performed by Lin Ye. In total, the library includes 7.5 GB of high-quality sample content. With its wide range, refined tone and rich harmonic capabilities, the Konghou is equally suited to flowing melodies, broad arpeggios and polyphonic arrangements.

Expressive Articulations and Flexible Playing Techniques

Ample China Konghou provides seven articulations: Sustain, Natural Harmonic, Tremolo, Short Tremolo, Upward Arpeggio, Downward Arpeggio and Pre-Vibrato. The Tremolo section includes both Expressive and Straight Tremolo, supports legato and infinite looping, and can start from different sample positions depending on velocity and playing style.

The Key function automatically adjusts pitch and string arrangement according to the selected key, following the retuning approach of the real instrument. The library was recorded with five microphones, including Left, Right, Mid and a stereo Distant pair. Four microphone modes provide different tonal and spatial characteristics.

Glissando, Expression and Riffer 4

In addition to Keyboard Mode, a dedicated Glissando Mode is available with selectable Pentatonic, Heptatonic and Persian scales. Riffer 4 supports the creation of realistic phrases and includes One-Click Auto Expression and Auto Vibrato, articulation editing, as well as extensive MIDI CC and velocity tools.
