Ample China Zheng – Expressive Guzheng Sounds with Modern Control

Ample China Zheng brings the clear, bright and lyrical sound of a traditional Chinese Guzheng into your studio. As one of the most representative Chinese plucked string instruments, the Guzheng offers a wide expressive range through its parallel strings – from delicate, flowing melodies to powerful glissandi, tremolos and expressive pitch movements.

For this library, a Dunhuang Guzheng – Purple Cloud was recorded and performed by Xueer Ding. In total, the library includes 8 GB of high-quality sample content with a wide range of articulations, vibrato techniques and characteristic glissando and bend performances.

From Delicate Melodies to Dramatic Glissandi

Ample China Zheng provides 11 articulations, including Sustain, Natural Harmonic, Tremolo, Glissando, Glissando Up and Down, Bend and Release, Bend Up, Bend Down and different Vibrato techniques. The Tremolo section includes both Expressive and Straight Tremolo, supports legato and infinite looping, and can start from different sample positions depending on velocity and playing style.

The Key function automatically adjusts pitch and string arrangement according to the selected key, following the retuning approach of the real instrument. The library was recorded with five microphones, including Left, Right, Mid and a stereo Distant pair. Four microphone modes provide different tonal and spatial characteristics.

Flexible Playing Modes and Riffer 4

Three playing modes – Keyboard Mode, Guzheng Mode and Glissando Mode – provide different approaches to performance and arrangement. Riffer 4 is tailored specifically to plucked string instruments and offers One-Click Auto Expression and Auto Vibrato, direct articulation editing, as well as extensive MIDI CC and velocity tools.
