Ambisonic De-Esser Plugin
aXDeesser is an ambisonic de-essing plugin designed for AmbiX-format (SN3D/ACN) signals. It offers traditional de-essing with a unique twist: sibilance band compression can be side-chained using a virtual microphone, allowing you to target specific directions in your immersive audio scene. This plugin provides precise control over frequency, bandwidth, and compression settings, ensuring optimal sibilance reduction while maintaining natural sound quality.
aXDeesser automatically detects the ambisonic order of your input signal, optimizing CPU usage for lower-order signals. Its virtual microphone side-chain lets you set the directivity and focus, ensuring the de-essing effect is applied only when needed.
Features
-
Frequency - The central frequency of the band to be compressed, centred on the sibilance range
-
Bandwidth - The bandwidth in octaves of the band to compress
-
Threshold - The level threshold at which the compressor starts acting on the sibilance band
-
Ratio - The amount of compression applied; 1 means no compression, higher values mean stronger compression
-
Attack - The time in milliseconds for the compressor to fully engage after the signal exceeds the threshold
-
Release - The time in milliseconds for the compressor to fully disengage after the signal falls below the threshold
-
Monitor Sibilance Band - Solo the sibilance band to assess the effect of the compression
-
Azimuth - The horizontal direction the virtual microphone should point
-
Elevation - The vertical direction the virtual microphone should point
-
Focus - Controls the directivity of the virtual microphone, limited by the ambisonic order of the input signal
