What if you record drum machines in a pro-studio?

We wanted to combine classic drum machines ( 15, to be exact ) with the the organic ambience and warmth of studio recorded drums. So, we took a club PA to two different studios, turned it up really loud, and recorded the results: through high-end mics, vintage consoles, valve pre-amps, bass-amps and even acoustic drum shells.

The Studio Channels

Each drum was recorded through 11 different channels in the studio - blend to create any drum sound you desire.

• 1073:  An overdriven Neve preamp.
• Valve:  Rooster preamp with 'attitude' dialled in
• Amp:  Ampeg bass cabinet mic'd up
• EMI:  TG12345 desk compressor
• Room 1:  SOTA studio stereo ribbon mic
• Room 2:  MV studio spaced KM84 pair
• Kit Res:  Tom drums mic'd up
• Rattle:  Drum shell + other acoustic artifacts
• PA:  High, Mid and Low mics. Hi + Mid are stereo.

The Kontakt Instrument

• The Mixer:
  EQ, compressor, SAT, reverb, width for each drum, DAW output, custom reverb processor, master FX, comp, EQ,tape, limiter
  The Mixer opens in the Drum window to enable a fast work-flow all within the same space. Each kit piece has its own mixer channel, with a fully featured channel strip to add the final touches to the sound. Each drum channels can be sent to a seperate Kontakt output in your DAW for additional mixing.
   
• Beat Tools: Euclidian Beats
  6 Euclid Tracks, Drag and drop MIDI patterns to DAW
  The first of 3 custom drum sequencers in Electro-Acoustic, Euclidean Beats is a revolutionary way of generating drum patterns; simpler than it first looks. Set any number of hits and any number of steps per track, and Euclid will space it all out equally for you. Generate creative grooves you never imagined within seconds - you can't put a step wrong.

• Beat Tools: Beat Shifter
  6 tracks with generative 'beat shifting' functions - drag and drop patterns to DAW - save and load patterns from disc
  A 6 track step-sequencer with a difference - each track can be programmed to shift its notes as the beat plays, creating new beats as the patterns evolves. Sounds can be set to move a lot, stay completely still, or move incrementally while never losing their musical timing.

• Beat Tools: Poly Beats
  6 poly rhythmic tracks - drag and drop pattersn to DAW
  Poly Beats is a new sequencer from Soniccouture. Each track divides the bar into arbitrary subdivisions, or polyrhythms. Since each track can be set completely different from each other, polyrhythms can quickly sound very strange and unnatural. Definitely the beat programmer for the left-field composer.

• The Options Panel
  Polyphony Limit system - User key mapping setup
  The Options panel allows you to mamage the polyphony of Electro-Acoustic: since each drum has 11 channels, polyphony counts can quickly get out of hand. We have a custom solution: you can set a limit to how many hits each drum can play, or switch it off for a totally purist experience. The options panel also allows completley custom key mappings so you can fit Electro-Acoustic to any existing MIDI tracks you have easily.

• The Drum Kit Panel
  Select drums by kit piece - 11 studio channels per drum - pitch - envelope - filter controls
  The sound-design heart of Electro-Acoustic, this screen has everything you need to build incredible sounding kits. Scroll through different drum machines for each kit piece, shape it using the 11 studio channels, then get really creative with pitch and envelope controls. For advanced drum-geeks, you can edit these for each channel independently if you desire.

KONTAKT PLAYER COMPATIBLE

This is a Kontakt Player instrument. This means that you do not need to own the full version of NI Kontakt to use it. It will run as a plug-in instrument in any VST/AU/RTAS/AAX/WASAPI,compatible host program or DAW eg: Cubase, Logic, Ableton Live, DP, Reaper, Pro-Tools. No extra purchase necessary.

This product requires the free Native Instruments Kontakt Player, the latest version can be downloaded through Native Access, Native Instrument’s download manager!
