Massive XL builds on the sound and open architecture of Massive X, combining deep synthesis capabilities with intuitive visual tools for a more direct sound design workflow. Existing Massive X presets and Expansions are compatible, while the Preset Generator turns audio references into playable presets with integrated stem separation. Mutator and Randomizer help explore new sonic directions, complemented by expanded wavetable and noisetable content, custom wavetable import and integrated effects.

The modulation system combines drag-and-drop assignments, envelopes, LFOs, macros, sidechain and sequenced modulation for dynamic, evolving sounds. Morpher and Animator add expressive movement, while animated modulators and visual feedback make complex signal paths easier to follow. Polyphonic aftertouch support, customizable preset banks and an extended undo/redo history further support expressive performance and an efficient workflow.
