The Legendary Tape Sound of the 1960s
With Mello, UVI brings the unmistakable sound of one of the most iconic keyboard instruments ever created into the modern production environment. The original instrument revolutionized music production in the 1960s with its innovative design: each key triggered a real tape recording, allowing musicians to play realistic instrument sounds directly from a keyboard for the very first time.
Made famous by songs such as Strawberry Fields Forever by The Beatles and used by artists including The Moody Blues, The Rolling Stones, and Yes, its distinctive tape-based sound became a defining element of rock and pop music and continues to inspire musicians and producers today.
Authentic Down to the Smallest Detail
For Mello, dozens of original tapes were meticulously multisampled from three different vintage instruments to faithfully capture all 28 available sound sets. Mechanical noises, key sounds, and the characteristic tape hiss were also recorded in stereo and can be blended to taste, recreating the authentic playing experience of the original hardware.
Classic Character Meets Modern Flexibility
While preserving the authentic sound of the original instrument, Mello expands its capabilities with a range of modern enhancements. These include an analog-modeled tape delay, high-quality reverb, multiple stereo modes including a custom unison mode, a switchable multimode filter, flexible envelopes, and a fully featured 3-band EQ.

Required Registration:
To use UVI products, you must register with the manufacturer at www.uvi.net. A free iLok account is also required for license activation. Download, installation, and product management are handled through the free UVI Portal.
This product requires an activation!
You can either "soft" activate on your computer without addditional hardware or transfer the license to an iLok USB dongle which has to be purchased separately. The iLok dongle can be used to run the protected software on different computers. Your licenses can be easily manged using the iLok Licence Manager. To protect your investment against theft or loss we recommend the iLok Zero Downtime protection with TLC.
An internet connection on any computer and a free user-accout at www.ilok.com is required to authorize the product.
