Mystica – where world class vocalists meet the topmost innovative library designer and superior studio gear

With Mystica, Eduardo Tarilonte continues his incomparable series of vocal-libraries. This classical chamber choir consists of eight extraordinary female vocalists, delivering a unique, enchanting sound without comparison.

Mystica was designed as a female-choir-library for unconfined solo use. At the same time, the library forms a perfectly matched mixed choir when being combined with Cantus. Therefore, Mystica was recorded under identical conditions in spanish KBYO Recording Studios, located in Granada, using eight selected Neumann microphones and Avalon preamps.

To ensure perfect team play of both libraries, Mystica offers the same words and Phrase-Arranger as Cantus. In addition, there is a new feature for quick-exchanging phrases and wordbuilder-settings between the libraries - in both directions. This way, the combination of Mystica and Cantus forms an impressive tool to create overwhelming choir passages.

Mystica is an unparalleled choir with an extraordinary sound quality. Mystica offers an almost magical sound which is extraordinarily versatile and equally suited for esoteric and mystic melodies as well as for big cinematic passages. One of the benefits of Mystica is its wonderful, expressive „True Legato“.

Mystica unifies realism and inspiration

This unrivaled choir-library allows creating incredibly realistic choir-phrases with ease. Mystica's powerful and innovative wordbuilder combines 24 words in the form of 120 elements, consisting of full words, corresponding syllables and five True-Legato vowels (A, E, I, O, U) plus an additional “Mmmh“-articulation.

As every Tarilonte vocal-library, Mystica offers the brilliant and innovative option of combining each word with any of the five True-Legato vowels, too. This way, realistically sounding vocal phrases can be created without using ready-made phrases.

Nevertheless, Mystica can, of course, be used as a typical choir-library without its Phrase-Arranger. There is an ample choice of 100 Gregorian vocal phrases, allowing to create sacral atmospheres with ease. In addition, the library offers twelve soundscapes being formed from vocal recordings as well as vocal effects to create unusual sounds.

Avalon/Neumann

Mystica Features:

  • unique „Numen Ensemble“ female choir with eight vocalists
  • 5 GB WAV samples, 24 bit/44.1 kHz
  • 5 “True Legato” vowels (A, E, I, O, U), separate “Mmmh”-articulation
  • powerful Phrase-Arranger with 24 words and three different articulations (staccato, fast, slow)
  • words can be separated in 120 short words/syllables
  • combine words with True-Legato vowels - automatic vowel selection
  • 100 Gregorian vocal phrases
  • 12 soundscapes, moulded from vocal recordings
  • additional vocal effects

MystiCantus

You can now download an update for your Cantus or Mystica library in your Native Instruments user account or directly in the Native Instrument Service Center. With this update we introduced compatibility between Cantus and Mystica, allowing you to exchange Phrase Arranger presets between both libraries. This update is highly recommended for all Cantus and Mystica owners.

Mystica Recordings

The female choir selected by Tarilonte is the “Numen Ensemble”, founded 2011. This choir is formed by experienced and talented vocalists with broad vocal repertoire. Most singers have been or still are members of renowned ensembles such as the Baroque Sevilla Choir, the Choir of the Maestranza or the Choir of the City of Granada Symphonic Orchestra.

Film and Game Compser Mystica review

Conclusion

Actually, I’f like to go back in time and set Cantus score for sound to “just” 95 so that when used together with Mystica it would get 100, but I can’t. I also can’t give Mystica a lower score than 100 in sound. But hink of it this way, when you use them together they are way past 200.

It’s just to surrender. I believe that anything Eduardo releases will be a hit and Mystica is by no means an exception. It’s brilliantly put together, from recording to scripting. Mystica sounds gorgeous, is easy to work with and it’s the absolute perfect companion to Cantus. Enough said, get it.

The Audio Spotlight reviewConclusion

Mystica is another winner from Eduardo Tarilonte and Best Service. The sound is full, rich and warm and you hardly get the feeling that you are listening to a recording. Eduardo seemed to have found his niche in these type of libraries and to be honest it really shows. Mystica simply is a must have.

Excerpt

Mystica is a sample library that incorporates a beautifully sounding women’s choir into a user-friendly programmed library – our reviewer may be in love.

............After all we have a very realistic sounding women’s choir in which all those different voices, vowels and syllables could be very easily applied to any arrangement almost without any further editing. At least, this is my personal opinion. Mystica proves to be one of the most useful voice libraries that I have ever reviewed, incorporating a beautifully sounding women’s choir into a very user-friendly programmed library. So, this time the compliments not only goes only to Eduardo, who made all that possible, but to the ladies who did their job as only ladies can do – perfectly. They absolutely deserved to be named here: Rosa Plata, Verónica Plata, Ruth Over, Conchita Cortés, Estefa Alcántara, Solomia Antoniak, Maribel Rueda and Susana Casas.

Ten out of ten stars for this one – for the ladies and for Eduardo Tarilonte.

Soundqualität: Sehr gutSpielbarkeit: PerfektPraxistauglichkeit: Für mich eine Punktlandung für Filmmusik, Vertonung und den Lounge/Chillbereich. Könnte sie mir aber auch für Komponisten im Bereich volkstümlicher Weihnachtsmusik und Klassik gut vorstellen.

I was looking for a VST as a stand in for professional spiritual vocals (in combination with Cantus, which I bought at the same time). To be fair, it does sound good for what it offers and combines well with Cantus. But one can definitely see and feel the age of the tool regarding its technology and UX. From the description and video, one gets the impression that both, Cantus and Mystica, offer a broad range of syllabals acting as a word builder. Unfortunately, only a small number are available stemming from phrases and words included and, thus, are very limiting. Maybe time to refresh the VST to modern technology and enhance its abilities.
