Fazit

Loop-Sammlungen sind immer ein wenig grenzwertig. Oft stellt ein Loop eine gute Inspirationsquelle dar, in der Summe sind die Möglichkeiten aber oft zu eingeschränkt, und man muss einen Loop länger bearbeiten, damit er in ein bestehendes Songgebilde hineinpasst.
Die Qualität der Off the Hook Guitars Library ist preis-leistungsmäßig gut, die Möglichkeit z.B. in Acid die Tonhöhen einfach zu ändern, bieten einem vielfältigere Möglichkeiten zum Einsatz. Klanglich werden viele Phrasierungen geboten. Der Haupteinsatzbereich geht aber klar in den RnB Stilistik, für reine Popmusik sind andere Librarys eher geeignet.
Für den produktiven Betrieb im Studio würde ich trotzdem eine Software wie Virtual Guitarist oder Chris Hein Guitars vorziehen. Diese sind zwar um einiges teurer, bieten aber auch viel freiere Möglichkeiten.

Bei manchen Titeln macht es KLICK bei mir. „Off the Hook“ – hatte ich das nicht schon mal vorgestellt? Jep, das war „Off the Hook 3“. Und davor gab es auch noch drei HipHop-Hooker (Dirty South, East Coast, West Coast). Und nun also mal die Gitarren. Thematisch wird da der Bogen mit HipHop, Pop und RnB etwas weiter gespannt als sonst. Was mir auf Anhieb gut gefällt: Die 40 Baukästen bestehen nur aus Drums und unzähligen Gitarrenriffs, was dann zu ein- bis zweiminütigen Demosongs führt, aus denen sich jede Menge machen läßt. Bass, Vocals und Keyboards baut man eben selber ein, dadurch wird das Ergebnis dann auch unverwechselbar. Der Sound ist gefällig, meist ein leichter Ohrschmeichler, nur selten wird es mal etwas lauter und schriller.

Fazit: Das Beste, was man über eine Sampling-DVD sagen kann, ist, ihr Kreativpotential zu bescheinigen und davon gibt es hier jede Menge. Zum einen, weil die Baukästen nicht alles vorschreiben, sondern Luft zum Atmen lassen, zum anderen, weil hier viel Material pro Song geboten wird. Das dann auch noch gut klingt. Macht Spaß, ist gut, gekauft.
