Timeless Organic and Vintage Reverb

Spring reverbs, prized for their vintage warmth and character, are often inaccessible due to rarity and cost. Pulsar Primavera, a 6-in-1 plugin, faithfully recreates these iconic sounds from the ‘50s to the ‘70s. With precise emulation of original units' behavior, it offers a wide range of tones from lo-fi to hi-fi. Exclusive controls expand sonic possibilities, while integrated features provide a complete reverb chain with a user-friendly interface. Experience the iconic "twang" tone that shaped music history, enhanced with next-gen features.

Realistic Spring Reverb Emulation

Most digital spring reverbs sound flat and are poorly configurable because they sample real units rather than modeling them. With real-time physical modeling, Pulsar Primavera breaks free from these limits and allows manipulation of physical reverberation parameters, like spring tension or excitation, for unique and creative sound design possibilities.

Hit and Shake the Springs!

The ringing behavior of the springs can be influenced either by hand or via modulation (and automation), and used as a creative sound design effect. More than just a fun and interactive way to play with reverb springs, this feature allows the potential for some really interesting effects.

Primavera

A Complete and Versatile Reverb Chain

Experience a wide sound palette and exceptional control:

  • Tension, Excitation: Tweak the Tension knob to alter the spring tension, shaping the reverb's character from soft to high-pitched. Experiment with the Excitation knob to introduce dynamic spring explosions, enhancing your sound design with subtle strikes.

  • Ducking, Presence (Output): Use Ducking to create prominent reverbs that never clash with other elements in your mix, adjusting the reverb level based on input volume. Enhance the reverb's presence in the mix with the carefully selected frequency boost of the Presence control.

  • Decay, Width, Predelay: Fine-tune temporal aspects with Predelay and Decay, clarifying the attack and tailoring the reverberation length. Adjust stereo image with the Width control.

  • Drive, Tube, EQ (Preamp): Shape the reverb's tone with built-in EQ filters. Add saturation and warmth with the Drive knob, with options for two different modes - Germanium and Tube.

6 Signature Spring Tanks

Select from six distinct and characterful spring reverbs:

  • Great British Spring: Delivers a dense and open sound, ideal for vocals and elements needing clarity in the mix.
  • HR12: Offers a vintage lo-fi color with characteristic "boing" springs, perfect for a unique flavor in your mix.

  • SR202: Provides a dark, fluttery reverb with prominent beats in the tail, adding realism and vibe to your source.

  • RE201: Versatile and adaptable, with dense reverberation tails suitable for any genre, including adding excitement and color to lead vocals.

  • Tubby: Emulates the old-school dub music color with a round, watery sound, great for adding variations to tracks, especially on brass, skank keys, or guitars.

  • Twang: Inspired by guitar amp spring reverbs, delivers a lo-fi vintage sound with character and color, reminiscent of classic gear like Fender amplifiers.

Diverse Presets, Artist-designed

Pulsar Primavera comes with hundreds of presets for a solid starting point or quick inspiration. Apply polish and invention to your sounds with presets meticulously crafted by producers and mixing engineers. With so much choice at your disposal, we highly encourage some careful digging to find the right sonic treasure within.

How Does it Sound?

  • Drums: You've likely heard many recordings with spring reverb on snares, particularly in reggae and dub music. This effect later influenced rock bands, leading to springy snares being used in various styles. You can use Primavera’s predelay to knock down the transient and tame the sound if you want softer results. Beautiful drum-type sounds can also be made by kicking the springs! Pair it with delay, gate envelope, and other effects to achieve a unique sound design.

  • Vocal: The deep, metallic timbre of spring reverb brings a raw edge to the sound. As a result it's a popular choice among rock bands for adding grit to vocal tracks. Additionally, using a spring reverb on the vocal is a wise choice when you need to place it in a separate space than the other elements in your arrangement.

  • Guitar: For those seeking the timeless vintage electric guitar sound, Primavera is the ideal choice. Spring reverbs play a significant role in achieving a realistic guitar tone, and our plugin could be the missing link, or another possible color, in the perfect guitar sound you're after.

  • Synths: If you're a Moog fan (or of any synth in this genre), spring reverbs can be an instant vintage preset that will quickly reinvent and add texture to your tracks. On VST synths Primavera introduces a subtle and natural grit for a more organic vibe.

Key Features

  • Drive and Saturation Mode: Adjust saturation level with the Drive knob, selecting between Tube and Germanium modes for preamplification circuitry. Saturation affects both Dry and Wet signals.

  • Tension: Alter spring tension with the Tension parameter to modify reverb character. Higher tension emphasizes high frequencies, while lower tension emphasizes bass frequencies.

  • Excitation: The Excitation knob simulates spring shaking in response to input transients, enhancing the "boing" effect and enabling creative sound design.

  • Ducking: Apply sidechain compression with the Ducking knob to reduce reverb level when the source passes through, clarifying your mix.

  • Vibrating Springs: Click the mouse to simulate spring "kicking," creating unique textures and sound design possibilities reminiscent of classic spring reverbs.

  • Predelay and Decay: Control reverb tail length with the Decay knob and adjust delay between direct and reverberated sound with Predelay, offering better separation at higher values.

  • Width: Control stereo image with the Width knob, from mono to maximum stereo width for realistic and intact sound.

  • Presence: Enhance upper mids with the Presence knob to boost reverb's presence in the mix, making it cut through or remain subtle.

  • External Sidechain: Use an external sidechain signal for Ducking by routing another audio track to the plugin's sidechain input, freeing up space in the mix.

  • Filters: Use built-in High-pass and Low-pass filters to clean up the source before sending it to the reverb, processed after preamplifier emulation.
