Pro Tools Artist Perpetual is a perpetual license including 12 months support plan and updates from AVID. Once your software is activated, you have access to AVID support for one year and can download and update to the latest version as soon as it is released. After the first 12 months you can renew the support and update plan. Furthermore, you can reactivate the plan after expiration.
