Stellar Echo SD-201 is a faithful recreation of an iconic tape delay from the 1970s. It captures the warm, saturated sound and charming irregularities of analog tape delays - including subtle pitch deviations and natural sound losses that play a central role in dub, reggae and trip-hop.

The plugin not only allows classic delay, but also invites you to experiment creatively: Exciting pitch effects and textures are created by changing the tape speed. In addition to authentic reproduction, modern features have been added that go far beyond the possibilities of the original hardware.

Why tape delay?

Unlike digital delays, a tape delay creates natural fluctuations in timing and pitch, which makes for a warm, lively sound. Each repetition becomes sonically “darker”, which fits perfectly into a mix, and overdriving the tape opens up additional creative possibilities. • FX Input Mute switch blocks new audio from entering plugin

• Clean/Noise switch toggles the standard input noise of the original unit

• Wow & Flutter slider adjusts natural speed imperfections and tuning deviations

• Offers two processing modes: ‘Original’ & ‘Custom’

• ‘Custom’ mode introduces a fourth (4th) tape head

• ‘Custom’ offers control over output volumes, stereo balances, and physical positions of each tape head.

• GUI features moving tape animation at the top of the unit, like Virtual Tape Machines
