Waterphone Instrument for Kontakt

The Soundiron Waterharp is a multi-sampled percussion and effects instrument library that embodies the essence of the waterphone, a unique instrument concept developed by Richard Waters in the late 1960s. Waterphones, or Water Harps, typically feature a brass vessel with a hollow water chamber, a long neck, and vertical brass tines. Played by strumming, striking, or bowing the tines, they produce a range of harmonic and dissonant tones. The pitch and harmonics can change dramatically with the addition of water and movement of the instrument.

To explore the instrument’s potential, various mallets, sticks, and even voices were used, recording it both empty and filled with water. Hydrophones captured sounds from inside while heated over an open flame or filled with machine screws. This resulted in a wide array of ambient soundscapes, pads, and drones, showcasing creative sound design techniques that elevate the library.

This library is designed for the full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt 6.2.2 or later.

Please notice: This library can not be used with the free Kontakt Player! To use this "Open Kontakt" format, you need a full version of Kontakt, which is included in products such as Komplete or Komplete Ultimate.
