The Resource is the successful collection of the already known 120er series by Ueberschall. The soundquality is very high and the single licks are diversified and inspiring. The new Elastik-Player does a good job. It is possible ot create and save your own user presets. The new timestretching- and pitchshifting-engine works better and faster as the engine by Prosoniq.(...)

The Elastik-Player is a good counterpart to the solo-instrument oriented L.I.S. PlugIn (Ueberschall Liquid) and „The Resource“, as first library, makes a very good start with its huge content (...). But more important are the upcoming libraries while they promise a wider bandwith plus a specification on single styles.

Who likes to work with loops can‘t do anything wrong by buying Elastik. „The Resource“ is a good collection for a good price and gives a wide variation of loops to experiment with all night and day. Who prefers more specific samples should wait for the next library that Ueberschall will release.

The library covers an extremly large bandwidth of styles and the samples have a very good audio quality. The material could be used in any kind of genre. We especially liked the beats from PLP120 and BPM120 and the solo guitar- and horn-licks from VLP120. The cutting and rearranging of loops is a piece of cake and a good support for a flexible workflow. Conventional loop-libraries can‘t mess with this and even the use of external beatslicers is more complicated. The Elastik-Engine combines a synced slicing mode with an user friendly interface. The synchronisation to the host sequencer and the time-stretch algorithm work fast and create good results. Although the quality of Liquid (the other Ueberschall player) is not reached.
All in all „The Resource“ is an extremly versatile enrichment for every audio library for a very good price. Because of the easy handling this plugin will find its way into every project very fast. whether to create a new song from scratch up or just to build in some fresh licks into an already existing arrangment.

Fazit
The Resource ist die sehr gelungene Sammlung der bereits bekannten 120er Serien von ueberschall. Die Klangqualität ist sehr hoch und die eingespielten Licks und Phrasen überaus abwechslungsreich und inspirierend. Der neue Elastik-Player macht seine Sache gut. Es lassen sich eigene, schlanke Favoriten-Libraries erzeugen und abspeichern. Die neue Timestretching- und Pitchshifting-Engine arbeitet besser und vor allem schneller als die Engine von Prosoniq. Leider fehlt dem Programm ein ordentlicher Soundbrowser oder eine sinnvolle Sortierung der Klänge.
Wer nur eine einzige Library aus der 120er-Serie sein Eigen nennt, kann für 149 € auf die komplette Sammlung updaten – eine lohnenswerte Investition, wenn man auf der Suche nach spielfertigen Loops und Phrasen ist. Bleibt noch die Frage, ob die Besitzer der ‚alten’ 120er-Serie jemals in den Genuss des neuen Players kommen?

Mit dem Elastik-Player hat Ueberschall ein sinnvolles Gegenstück zum Solo-orientierten L.I.S.-PlugIn (Ueberschall Liquid) geschaffen. „The Resource“ macht dabei einen Content-gewaltigen Anfang, der besonders als Update für ULP-Besitzer sehr attraktiv ist. Wichtiger scheint allerdings die Aussicht auf die künftigen Librarys, die insgesamt eine noch größere Bandbreite versprechen, da sie sich jeweils individuellen Stilen konsequent widmen.

Der Zugewinn auf der technischen Seite spiegelt den Produktionsalltag wieder. Durch die erhöhte Prozessgeschwindigkeit und Funktionen wie dem Map Mode wurde der Workflow entschieden verbessert. Nicht zu vergessen ist auch der Stand-Alone-Version, die es erlaubt, Loops modifiziert oder im Originaltzustand zu exportieren. Damit können etwa auch Reason-User die Elastik-Loops einsetzen.

Wer gern mit Loops arbeitet, egal ob einfaches Abspielen oder kreatives Manipulieren, kann mit einem Erwerb von Elastik kaum etwas falsch machen. „The Resource“ stellt zu einem günstigen Preis das wunderbar breite Spektrum von vier Librarys zur Verfügung mit denen man nächtelang experimentieren kann. Wer es spezifischer mag, kann auf einen der nächsten Titel warten die Ueberschall, ähnlich wie bei L.I.S., in kurzen Abständen veröffentlichen möchte.

Fazit

Die Library ist ausgesprochen umfangreich und insgesamt von sehr guter Audio-Qualität. Quer durch alle denkbaren Genres bietet sich eine Vielzahl von Anwendungsmöglichkeiten. Besonders gefallen haben uns neben den Beats aus der PLP-120- und er BPM-120-Library die Solo-Licks der Gitarren und Bläser der VLP-120-Soundbank. Das Zerlegen und Re-Arrangieren der Loops ist ein Kinderspiel und trägt erheblich zur flexiblen Verwendung des Materials bei. Herkömmliche Loop-Libraries können hier nicht mehr mithalten und auch die Verwendung externer Beat-Slicer stellt sich in der Praxis oft recht umständlich dar. Die Elastik-Engine integriert ein tempogenaues Slicing unter einer wohl durchdachten und anwenderfreundlichen Oberfläche. Die Synchronisation an das Host-Tempo mittels Time-Stretch-Algorithmus funktioniert schnell und liefert gute Ergebnisse, solange man keine extremen Anforderungen stellt. Die aus der Serie der Liquid-Instruments des gleichen Herstellers bekannte Umrechnungsqualität wird hier jedoch nicht erreicht.
Insgesamt stellt THE RESOURCE eine enorm vielseitige Bereicherung der Audio-Library zu einem ausgezeichneten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis dar. Aufgrund der flexiblen Bearbeitungsmöglichkeiten wird man immer wieder gerne auf dieses PlugIn zurückgreifen, sei es, um einen Song von Grund auf damit aufzubauen oder ein bestehendes Arrangement mit frischen Licks zu garnieren.
