Echoes of Ancient Rituals
Dark ERA 2 takes you into a sound world where music was more than accompaniment. Sounds structured actions, created community, and gave meaning to moments. Eduardo Tarilonte translates this idea into a modern library that shapes historical instruments, voices, and textures into a clearly defined, playable sound.
Deep drums, long drones, and expressive voices evolve into music that opens space and carries tension. Dark ERA 2 is designed to build atmosphere, shape movement, and guide scenes musically - from subtle tension to powerful, driving moments.
Instruments with a clear identity
At the center are instruments whose sound immediately shows character. Bowed and plucked string instruments such as Tagelharpa, Nyckelharpa, and Psalmodikon deliver deep foundations, subtle movement, and rhythmic impulses that integrate naturally into a composition.

Wind and horn instruments expand the palette with distinctive signals, drones, and floating textures. A versatile percussion section provides structure, dynamics, and energy - from restrained pulses to clearly defined, driving rhythms.
All instruments are designed to combine effortlessly and work musically together - without lengthy sound design, but with plenty of creative flexibility.
Rhythm in motion
Rhythm in Dark ERA 2 is created through layering, dynamics, and variation. Playable drums, rhythmic performances, and epic and primal loops can be freely combined to form organic grooves that evolve naturally over time.
These structures respond to tempo and performance and adapt to different moods - ideal for film, games, and narrative music where rhythm is more than just timekeeping.

Voices as a musical element
The voice section adds a clear human layer to the sound. Voices are used melodically, rhythmically, and texturally and can be shaped and controlled with precision.
Vocal drones, overtone singing, throat singing, and powerful war vocals offer a wide expressive range - from subtle tension beds to present, assertive accents.
Soundscapes and textures
Multi-layered soundscapes and rhythmic pads connect instruments, voices, and textures into complete sonic environments. All layers can be individually adjusted, mixed, and animated in the internal mixer of the Engine Player.
This allows the creation of flexible atmospheres that work both as a subtle foundation and as a defining element within a composition.

Engine Player - direct workflow
Dark ERA 2 runs in the Engine Player and offers a clean, focused interface with direct access to sound, rhythm, and performance parameters.

"Dark Era 2 is a great reminder of why Eduardo Tarilonte’s instruments continue to stand out. The recording quality, musicality, and imagination behind these sounds are immediately apparent — they invite exploration and spark ideas right away.
What really struck me is how focused this collection feels. The dark, primal instruments and voices fill a part of my palette that simply wasn’t covered elsewhere, even after decades of collecting libraries. From the flutes to the horns to the vocal performances, everything feels expressive, playable, and deeply musical."
Einar Selvik (Wardruna)
Vikings TV series music
"Dark Era gives you access to a great selection of rare and hard-to-get instruments along with complimenting soundscapes as well as smart and easy solutions for playing and replicating the real deal. Great job, Eduardo! So if you want to add some solid historical texture to your music and don’t happen to own a wide selection of obscure historical instruments - this is the library to get!"

"Eduardo Tarilonte's libraries never fail to deliver the sounds that we never knew we needed but that we can't live without. Dark Era takes that to the next level with another must-have collection of inspiring and unexpected sounds. Perfect for fantasy video game scoring and so much more. Highly recommended!"
David García Díaz
Sound designer and video game composer whose work includes games like RiME or the Bafta´s audio achievement winner "Hellblade: Senua´s Sacrifice".
“When it comes to Viking Pagan folk music, Dark Era, by Eduardo Tarilonte is one of the very few and for me the best instrument to capture the tones that make this music style unique. Throat singing, war horns, frame drums, skin drums...and a large etc. All captured with great detail and easy to use just right out the box. I wish I had "Dark Era" when I was working on the soundtrack of Hellblade: Seuna’s Sacrifice. If you want to create music in the style of Heilung or Wardruna, or add a raw, dark, beating texture to your music, I think this is the right tool to have.”
