Multi-Band Mastering Compressor

The MB3X Multi-Band Mastering Compressor is a plugin emulation of Rocksonics Professional Audio's hardware unit from the mid-1990s, featuring additional BONUS features exclusive to the plugin. This mastering-grade compressor/limiter ensures extremely low distortion and exceptional musicality. Utilizing multiple layers of program-dependent RMS level detectors, the MB3X delivers smooth, low-distortion, and "musical" results. Its three fixed compression bands, separated by constant amplitude Bessel crossovers, minimize phase distortion and eliminate pre-ringing. With a single Threshold control and unique "tilting" trim controls for individual band adjustments, the MB3X is both simple to set up and operate.

The plugin offers additional features not present in the original hardware unit:

• Streamlined "½-rack stacked" GUI layout minimizes scrolling in the DAW window

• A/B memory recall for two different sets of settings, saving both controls when the project is saved for future adjustments

• Wet/Dry Mix controls for compressor and main output enable parallel compression techniques by blending the compressed signal with the original source

• Variable "Saturation" control adds harmonic distortion for enhanced signal presence

• Switchable 1dB/2dB gain ranges for gain reduction meters

• "Hilbert" control reduces compressor THD to inaudible levels over most of the audio range

• Automatic mono/stereo channel switching reduces CPU load when used on mono tracks in mixing

The MB3X compressor is versatile, automating audio spectrum balance for applications like Web Radio or preserving source EQ balance in mastering. In both cases, it enhances audio details and controls dynamics for a musically pleasing, "finished" sound.
