Quo Vadis Native Instruments?

Quo Vadis Native Instruments? Don’t Worry About Your Music.

You may have heard: Native Instruments has initiated preliminary insolvency proceedings in Germany. That may sound alarming at first – but let’s take a moment to breathe.

Preliminary insolvency does not mean “sudden bankruptcy.” It means the company is exploring options to stabilize itself – for example, through investors, restructuring, or partial sales. During this phase, normal business operations generally continue.

Here’s what this means for you:

  • Your software keeps running: KONTAKT, KONTAKT Player, Komplete, Maschine, and other products remain fully usable.

  • Best Service Libraries and other sound libraries that run via KONTAKT or KONTAKT Player continue to work smoothly. You can use them, load them, and integrate them into your projects as usual.

  • No worries when buying new libraries: KONTAKT is the standard sampler for the vast majority of library developers worldwide, so there is strong interest in keeping the platform alive – no matter what form that takes.

Of course, the long-term outcome is uncertain – it depends on the decisions of the administrators and potential buyers. But for now, you can keep being creative, produce your projects, and use new sounds without anything being lost.

Bottom line: For you as a user, nothing changes right now. Everything remains fully functional, your music software and libraries are safe, and you can continue to buy and use new libraries as usual.
