Building on the legacy of its predecessor, Superior Drummer 3 was redesigned from the ground up to introduce a completely new and improved workflow, countless added features and an unequalled amount of raw sound material. The Superior Drummer 3 core sound library was recorded by award-winning engineer George Massenburg at probably the world’s most quiet and ideal location for sampling, the Galaxy Studios in Belgium. The library boasts in excess of 230 GB of raw sound material captured in extreme detail.
In additional to close microphones and several ambience positions, the Superior Drummer 3 setup also includes an additional eleven room microphones set up in a surround configuration, for use in anything from stereo to 5.1, 9.1 and all the way up to 11.1 systems. In combination with the large selection of extra instruments added for stacking and sound design purposes, the sounds of Superior Drummer 3 give you an incomparable palette of options to craft drum tones beyond your wildest imagination.
Superior Drummer 3 is more than a drum production tool – it’s a virtual studio introducing endless possibilities for you to hone, shape and mold your drums without any thinkable creative restraints.
The shipping version includes a 320 GB, USB 3.0 portable hard drive for fast and easy installation (besides the immediate download code).

Superior is a standard and (IMHO) a must have instrument for the composer, arranger and musician Very recommended!
I’m a professional recording/live audio engineer, producer, mix engineer and musician. I’ve been at it for over 40 years and I still love it more every day. If you’re already using SD2, the move to SD3 is a total game-changer. The GUI alone is super nice - you’ll never want to look at SD2 again. The samples are recorded beautifully and the room sounds wonderful. It took some processing to get the default drum kits to sound big and slamming, but the included processors work fine. The included processors work well enough that I stopped using multi-output mode to do processing on SD2 stems. Instead, I’m now using stereo mode, with all processing happening within SD3. I just throw a compressor across the stereo bus and I’m good to go. It also cleans up my DAW’s mixer by using less channels for drums. I use SD3 for drum sequencing and I love using it with e-drums. The dynamic range of SD3 kits is the best I’ve ever used. Whether playing it on a MIDI keyboard, or on e-drums, it’s such a new playing experience that I was sincerely blown away. There are a some things that should be addressed in future updates, but this is a completely new instrument. The R&D had to be so incredibly huge that I have to cut them some slack on the things needing attention. Over all, I’m loving this drum instrument. Cheers! - ***
